T&C's
General
I like to keep a relaxed and friendly learning environment. If anything ever feels unclear or you run into a problem, I’m genuinely approachable - just let me know as soon as you can and we’ll work out a solution that suits us both.
A few ground rules - all businesses need them.
I will always be punctual, courteous and polite, behaving in an ethical and professional manner at all times. I follow the standards set out in the Driving Instructor Code of Practice.
My car will always be well‑maintained, fully insured, fitted with dual controls, and kept roadworthy at all times.
Legal Requirements
Learners must be at least 17 years old and hold a current, valid provisional driving licence. This licence must be shown to me at the first lesson.
Learners must also allow me to check the validity of their licence.
Learners must meet the legal eyesight requirement, which means being able to read a number plate from 20 metres away.
Learners must be fit to drive and must not attend lessons under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn. Any headwear must be secure and not cause distraction while driving.
Lesson Booking
The learner must inform me by text by Saturday of their availability for the week ahead. I will then complete my diary on Sunday for that week, then inform the learner by text of their mutually convenient time.
In most cases the lesson day and time will remain the same each week.
Deposit and Paying for Lessons
When making an initial booking the learner must pay a deposit of the equivalent of a one hour lesson, so that I can hold the space.
Lessons need to be paid for by bank transfer, at least 48 hours prior to the time of the lesson. No credit will be given.
Lesson Cancellation
As being a driving instructor is how i make my living, i ask for 48 hours notice to cancel a booked lesson or payment must be made in full. It also benefits the learner to have regular weekly lesson, which helps them to keep what they have learnt fresh in their mind. If the learner is unfit to drive, i understand that they may need to change a lesson, with a mutual understanding, lessons can be moved, on occasion, to a time that suits us both.
I may need to postpone lessons due to weather or traffic conditions, if this happens I will reschedule the lesson at a mutually convenient time, at no extra charge.
Punctuality
If the learner is late for a lesson, I will wait 10 minutes past the lesson time and then leave.
The lesson will be paid for in full.
The Driving Test
The learner may only book their driving test once I have confirmed that they are ready and we have agreed on a suitable date. When booking, you must use my ADI number 324803. If this is not entered correctly, the test may be cancelled in the event of a double booking.
As the test waiting times can be long, some learners may secure a test date before they have reached the standard required to take it. If, by the time of the test, your driving does not meet the necessary level of competence, I reserve the right, purely for reasons of safety, to withhold the use of my vehicle for the test.
